We have teamed up with Tia Haynes from The Milk Press to bring you a creative evening hand building your own mug.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, you will create one mug and up to 2 smaller items (time permitting).
With Tia’s guidance, you will construct a slab mug from a creamy speckled clay. You will learn how to pinch out the form into an organically shaped mug, refine your mug, and attach a handle. You will then be able to apply minimal surface decoration using letter stamps to add a name/phrase, and small amounts of coloured underglaze.

After the workshop, your items will be taken to The Milk Press pottery studio where they will be slow-dried, bisque fired (900 degrees), clear glazed, and high fired (1200 degrees). Your items will then be packaged up and ready for collected from Punnet within 4 weeks of the workshop.
All materials and tools needed to create your mug is included in the workshop cost.
Although clay washes out of fabric and won’t stain clothes, we suggest bringing along an apron (if you have one) and a small towel.
This workshop is designed for beginners, while still being suitable for those with clay experience.
